Why This 17 Year Old Girl Attempted To Kill Herself?
On January 19, 2022, a young girl aged 17 lost her life after she attempted to kill herself with poison on January 9. Why? Cause in the school where she was studying wasn't a school but a place where people sell their religion. She was forced to convert to Christianity.
This is an incident from Tamil Nadu, India where a girl studying in 12th in Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School was forced by the administration to convert from Hindu to Christianity. In a video she also said that the school asked her parents to convert her into Christianity, they would help for further studies.
But she didn't accept that and she was tortured by the school. She was not permitted to return home from the hostel. She was forced to clean toilets and wash dishes. This torture went on for five years after which she attempted to end her life by consuming pesticides used in the school garden.
On January 19 she lost her life. Her name was M Lavanya. On this many major media including the Times Of India only mentioned "forced to clean rooms, the girl ends life", completely ignoring the forced religious conversion. And this isn't the first incident, the school has been alleged to convert many children into Christianity.
I never understood this concept of people forcing others to join their religion. Dude why? Are you a salesman, selling membership of your religion? Join this religion and you will get a life of a 7-star hotel after death. And don't know what else people say just to convince someone to join their religion.
Just because someone appreciates your religion doesn't necessarily mean they want to accept it, it simply means they respect it. If they want to accept it, they will, you don't have to tell them to do so. Freedom of Religion in India also says that no one can convert someone's faith forcefully. Some people literally need to go back to school.
